Well, this is it! I just came home from celebrating day one of an incredible birthday weekend, it looks like we have our two Finals series for the NBA and Stanley Cup Playoffs all set for the first week of June. It’s been a pleasure writing these pieces for all of you good people, this is a little Birthday gift from me to you. Let’s get to it!
STANLEY CUP FINALS
I won’t waste anyone’s time trying to break down matchups and analytics as both rosters speak for themselves, and the fact that we have a rematch of the Stanley Cup Finals from last year! From the Western Conference, you have the Edmonton Oilers who have made their first Finals appearance since 2006 when they lost to Carolina and are seeking to win their first Cup since 1990. Conner McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and friends fought hard to get back here being able to withstand a dangerous Dallas Stars team and now they, as well as most of Canada hope that they can finish the job this time against Florida.
Coming out of the East is defending champion Florida Panthers. The Cats crushed Carolina and are poised to defend their Stanley Cup title while trying to become the first team to repeat since the Tampa Bay Lightning did it in 2021. As stacked as both teams are, this should be a series for the ages. Well Sergei Bobrovskyshut the door again for Florida, and will the Panthers repeat as Cup champs? As for McDavid, Drisaitl, Nuge and the boys in Edmonton, they’ll be doing just fine with one!!! Both Finals series have now been set. Sit back and enjoy, sports fans!
GAME ON!!!!
