Below are some of the running backs that I will be fairly aggressive on drafting this upcoming season. Now, keep in mind, we can’t say early first round players or obvious tougher scenarios to accomplish. So I tried to keep the ADP in ranges that gives everyone a shot at acquiring these players.
Chase Brown
ESPN ADP 25 – At his ADP, every team would have two chances to draft him. In the 2nd round this season, RB is my favorite position to attack. And if you miss out on Henry or Achane, your consolation prize is still a heck of a player. Brown took over in week 9 last season. In those 8 final weeks, he was a top 10 RB 6 times, a top 5 RB 4 times, and only once finished outside the top 20 (23). A bell cow in possibly the league’s best offense? Yeah, sign me the *%%* up.
TreVeyon Henderson
ESPN ADP 49 – This one is getting tougher as the ADP is just climbing. He still qualifies for now. In the last 5 seasons that Josh McDaniels was the OC for the Patriots, his running back target shares were 27%, 36%, 28%, 29% and 20%. While he may never be the bell cow this season, he clearly will have the more fantasy-relevant role. There is a path to 70+ targets… and Henderson should be a much more dynamic player than James White.
Tony Pollard
ESPN ADP 70 – He’s currently the 26th RB off the board, and come week 1’s rankings, he’s going to be ranked well ahead of 26. Titans now have an upgrade at QB, but still figure to run the ball quite a bit. Oh, and now Tyjae Spears is dealing with a high ankle sprain and will miss all preseason. Volume is king in this game, even if it’s not sexy at times.
Jordan Mason
ESPN ADP 105 – Once we get to this range, I always say take who you like. For me, it’s Jordan Mason. Now I also like Aaron Jones a little, but for the price, it’s clearly Mason. Last year, Aaron Jones saw 16 touches inside the 5-yard line he averaged – .2 yards an attempt and finished with -2 yards total down there. Phew. That’s bad. Mason could sneak his way into 8 TDs this season if he just assumes this role on a KOC offense. Combine this with about 40% of the load, and it’s not a bad RB3 or flex play most weeks. Sneaky for 0 RB or hero RB teams as well.
Some later bench depth waiver additions I like
Jacory Croskey-Merrit
Bhayshul Tuten
Woody Marks
Stay tuned for WR next!
