Tony Schiavone opens the show and welcomes everyone to Collision Course.
He runs down the night’s massive card, including the AEW World Championship match, the Women’s World Championship Triple Threat, Kenny Omega vs. Cope, the Street Fight for the Tag Team Championships and the ladder match that just determined Swerve’s challenger.
The crowd erupts when Brody King’s name is mentioned.
Tony reminds everyone that Brody King was brutally attacked after the ladder match.
The camera cuts backstage.
Swerve Strickland is shown preparing for his World Championship defense.
He says he doesn’t care that Brody won the ladder match.
He says he’s leaving Collision Course as AEW World Champion.
Then the camera cuts to another locker room.
Brody King is nowhere to be seen.
The commentators immediately begin wondering whether Brody will even be medically cleared to compete.
Tony closes the opening segment by saying:

Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong begin the match against Scorpio Sky and Top Flight. Mark immediately turns the match into a wild brawl while Kyle tries to keep things technical. Strong becomes the powerhouse, repeatedly catching Top Flight out of the air.
Top Flight eventually isolate Kyle and nearly eliminate his team, but Mark makes the save.
The first elimination comes after Roderick catches Scorpio Sky with a brutal backbreaker while Mark prevents a save.
Winners of the first fall: Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong.
The next team enters: Shane Taylor and The Infantry.
The size difference immediately changes the match. Taylor destroys everyone in sight while Kyle repeatedly attacks his legs.
Strong and Taylor have an incredible exchange before Mark hits a huge diving attack.
Kyle catches one member of The Infantry in a submission.
They eliminate Shane Taylor & The Infantry.
The next team enters: Ace Austin and The Gunns.
The Gunns use classic tag-team tactics to isolate Mark.

They swarm the champion.
Brody is still down from the earlier exchange.
The masked men drag Swerve toward the corner.
They set up tables.
Swerve tries fighting free.
He manages to drop one of them.
Another attacks.
Swerve is overwhelmed.
SWERVE IS DRIVEN THROUGH A TABLE.
The crowd erupts in boos.
The masked men aren’t finished.
They drag Swerve up.

Swerve is thrown through it.

Brody is still knocked out and doesn’t see any of it.
The masked men disappear.
The lights come back.
The referee slowly begins recovering.
Brody slowly gets to his feet.
He has absolutely no idea what happened.
Swerve is barely moving.
Brody looks at him.

He lifts Swerve.
Swerve can barely stand.

The referee crawls into position.

The arena erupts.

They slowly surround Brody.
Brody looks around.
He doesn’t understand.
Then Swerve begins moving.
The former champion gets to his feet.
Swerve sees Brody surrounded.
Despite everything, Swerve tries to help him.
Swerve attacks one of the masked men.
Then another.
He manages to knock one down.
Brody turns.
CLOTHESLINE! – Brody destroys Swerve.

The masked men begin beating Swerve.
One after another.
Swerve tries to fight back.
He can’t.
The five men surround him.
Then they begin removing their masks.
The first mask comes off.
JOHN SILVER.
New Look! Long Beard and facepaint.
Huge reaction.
Silver has a completely new look, with half of his face painted.
The second mask comes off.
ALEX REYNOLDS.
Another completely new look like Silver long beard.
Half-painted face.
Cold expression.
The third man removes his mask.
PRESTON VANCE.
He has also transformed his appearance, with half of his face painted, a long dark beard, and long black hair!
The fourth man removes his mask.
BUDDY MATTHEWS!
The same Buddy Matthews who competed in the ladder match earlier tonight the same Buddy Matthews who the masked men have attacked multiple times! It was all a setup!
The crowd erupts in disbelief.
Brody looks at him.
Buddy smiles.
Then the final masked man slowly reaches up.
He removes his mask.
The arena goes completely insane.
MALAKAI BLACK!
MALAKAI BLACK HAS RETURNED TO AEW.
Brody looks at Malakai.
Malakai looks at Brody.
For a moment, neither man moves.
Then—
THEY EMBRACE.
Buddy joins them.
