For the 6th consecutive season, the New Orleans Saints win their season opener over their division rivals, the Carolina Panthers.
In their first possession, Saints scored not only the first touchdown of the game, but the first touchdown on Sunday full of games as Derek Carr throws it to Rashid Shaheed for 59 yards. Shaheed also lead in receiving with 73 yards on 3 receptions. Derek Carr finished the game with 200 passing yards, 19/23, & 3 touchdown passes.
The Panthers first play of their 2024 campaign led to an interception by Will Harris. Saints also had their 2nd INT of the day courtesy of Jordan Howden.
Saints kicker Blake Grupe had a great game with 4 field goals with the longest being 57 yards.
Saints defense had a tremendous day only allowing 58 total rushing yards and had a total of 56 tackles, 33 solo tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks.
