No Sandstorm for LSU

The atmosphere in Willams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, SC was an unforgettable scene for this week’s Game Of The Week between The LSU Tigers & The South Carolina Gamecocks, especially with “Sandstorm” playing in the stadium.

This was a highly offensive showdown in The SEC. Gamecocks get on the board first with LaNorris Sellers for a 4-yard touchdown rush making it 7-0 SC all the way until the 2nd quarter when Alex Herrera nails a 28-yard field goal making it 10-0. Later in the game, LSU sees the endzone as Caden Durham rushes it in for a 26-yard touchdown then making 17-7. After another Gamecock Touchdown LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier’s short 12-yard pass to Karen Lacy gets him a reservation for six. Two Point conversion failed making it 24-16 South Carolina at the half.

The second half saw quite a bit of turnovers and penalties between both teams, but Caden Durham saw the endzone again for his second touchdown of the game, this one for nine yards.

LSU would manage to score 2 more times in the 4th quarter courtesy of Mason Taylor and Josh Williams. LSU takes the lead 36-33 near the end of the game SC kicker Alex Herrera looks to tie the game with a 49-yard field goal to go into overtime, but misses it and LSU survives in Columbia and gets their first SEC win of the 2024 season.

Garrett Nussmeier ends the day with 285 passing yards, 24/40, 2 TDs, and an INT. Caden Durham led in rushing with 98 yards on 11 carries and 2 TDs. Aaron Anderson led in receiving with 96 receiving yards on 5 receptions.
